Evacuation Zones
The City of Bonita Springs Encourages You to be Prepared For Hurricane Season

Know Your Evacuation Zones

There are key steps to preparing you and your family for the upcoming hurricane season.

  • Residents know a personal preparedness plan is part preparing and part evacuating.
  • Please plan now.
  • Plan your preparedness plans and enact them as we all monitor storms in the days before evacuation orders and potential landfall.
  • Have a Family Emergency Plan and an Emergency Supply Kit, and review these at the start of every hurricane season.  A Disaster Preparedness tax holiday is June 1-14th.  It is a great time to review and restock your emergency supplies. Your Family Emergency Plan should include where you would evacuate – like a family member’s or friend’s home or a community outside the area.
  • Know Your Zone – both for evacuations and flooding.  It’s essential to know your Evacuation Zone going into storm season so you will be ready to react when evacuations are called for.
  • Be ready when a storm is forecast to impact our area.  Your Family Emergency Plan should include securing loose items in your yard and ensuring your shutters are up.  Take these steps before an Evacuation Order is issued.  When officials issue an Evacuation Order, you should be ready to evacuate

As we prepare for hurricane season, please also be aware of permit requirements for repairs after storms.  It is very important for residents who may experience wind damage or water intrusion in their homes to understand that permits are required for repairs in the Special Flood Hazard area. Please contact the Bonita Springs Community Development at 239-444-6150 for assistance with permit requirements and resources. Bonita Springs residents with water intrusion in their homes post-storm may send an email to [email protected]. For additional information, please visit the community development website.
