Council has approved a contract amendment with Alta Planning, Inc. to provide support in the preparation of the RAISE (Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity) grant application. Since 2009 the US Department of Transportation RAISE Grant Program has provided funds for transportation projects that create high-quality jobs, improve safety, protect our environment, and generate equitable economic opportunity throughout the united states.
If awarded, the city plans to use the grant to construct a complete street facility along the Terry Street Corridor. Components of the project include a 12-foot-wide multi-use path with a 5-foot buffered bicycle lane, shared lane bicycle markings, pedestrian refuges, a modern roundabout, pedestrian bridges, stormwater improvements, and underground utilities. The City’s request will continue to build on our $30 million Downtown Improvement Project investment that incorporated the Complete Streets concept.
